I am a senior citizen who has had a number of piano teachers over the past few years…since I retired at 71. They have all been very good and shared with me much about the art of playing the piano, specifically classical piano, which was one of my goals for retirement. I have learned a great deal from these teachers but, I must admit, Linda Dunn has taken my piano lessons/teaching to a whole new level. I knew or “suspected” that there were many other skills sets that I had not been taught by my previous tutors. In a very short time, sitting at her piano in her living room, she has been able to identify my numerous short comings and has begun to help me address those musical and artistic needs. It has been difficult for me to learn and relearn many things but also it has been extremely satisfying and beneficial to my personal growth as a classical pianists…or at least the very beginning of that journey. I’m a pretty new adult student of Linda’s, coming in with some music experience but little knowledge of piano. It was important to me to find someone who wouldn’t rigidly teach me music theory things I already knew, but could adapt and fill in the gaps for me. I’ve taken classes with Ms. Linda for 4 years, and I’ve not only gained the musical skills I’ve wanted for a long time, but also gained an invaluable family member. I started at an older age than most people do, and this was one of my biggest concerns when I started. My experience with music teachers had always been negative. They were strict, I never learned much from them, and I lost interest quickly. However, from the moment I started Ms. Linda’s classes, I knew it was different. There are simply not enough words to describe the quality of Linda Dunn’s methods for teaching piano. As of this review I’ve been taking lessons from her for little more than 3 months and even in that short amount of time I’ve made more progress and learned more music theory than I would have thought possible.
What makes Linda an incredible teacher is the way she methodically teaches you how to play piano from theory to practice. In her terms, “There are no shortcuts to learning to play,” and her methods will have you looking at sheet music and playing the keys like a real concert pianist and not like you were in a high-school music classroom.
As a 23 year old just beginning my journey into piano I must say that I couldn’t be happier with my choice in instructor, and the icing on the proverbial cake is that everyone that walks into her home is seen as family.
If you are looking for a shortcut to piano that is chords only, makes use of cute acronyms, and has you “playing songs instantly!” then maybe you should look elsewhere. If, however, you want to truly learn piano in a systematic, methodical, and thorough way like a true pianist, all while feeling like a part of the family, then Linda would be your perfect teacher.

Mrs. Dunn talks with the kid with positive and affirmative attitude and she can make piano learning fun. We had trouble to stick to any after school activities, but I can expect that learning piano from Mrs. Dunn will be one long term experience for my son.

My younger brother and I wanted to take piano lessons so I searched online to find a place. I called three places and Ms. Dunn was the only one that called me back. We have been taking lessons with her for about three months and we have learned so much. I played instruments when I was younger but my younger brother had no musical experience prior to her lessons and sometimes he plays better than I do. Ms. Dunn is very patient with her students and you can call her anytime you need help on something you may not understand. She teaches you proper technique, theory and how to actually read music.
